New Kung Fu Panda 2 TV spot emerges

Clocking in at 1:04, it divulges a lot more plot info, in which a shady adversary plans to wipe out kung fu for good, leaving it up to Po and his fellow animal warriors to save China's most sacred martial art.

Much like its mighty predecessor, the follow-up features Jack Black as the voice of Po the panda alongside an ensemble of vocal talent - including Jean-Claude Van Damme.

The clip ends with the stare-down finale seen in the previous trailer...but it still makes us chuckle.

Hannah Defends Sex-filled Spartacus Show

Scottish actor John Hannah has defended the amount of sex and violence depicted in his TV show Spartacus: Gods Of The Arena, insisting viewers are more interested in the "fantastic" script.

The Four Weddings and a Funeral star plays Quintus Lentulus Batiatus, the owner of an ancient gladiator academy, who is shown romping with his onscreen wife Lucretia, played by Lucy Lawless.

The show has come under fire from some critics who claim TV bosses are relying on fight scenes and saucy shots to boost ratings, but Hannah insists it is the great writing which keeps viewers hooked.

He tells TV host Kate Garraway on Britain's Lorraine morning show, "The storylines... sex sells, yeah sure, violence is great to watch now and again, but if there's no story people wouldn't watch it every week. There's a great story and I think the writers are fantastic."

Sheen Improves in Chicago After Detroit Failure

CHICAGO -- After being heckled and booed in Detroit, Charlie Sheen made some changes to his road show Sunday night -- and this time, it ended with a standing ovation.

Sheen used a talk show-style format at his Chicago show, with a master of ceremonies asking the actor questions. The interviewer, who didn't identify himself, kept Sheen on track and gave the actor a chance to make some snarky comments.

Some audience members said the second performance on Sheen's "My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat is Not an Option" tour wasn't outstanding, but at least it had amusing moments. And Sheen drew cheers throughout the show, which began and ended with a standing ovation.

Mackenzie Barth, 19, said it was a "weird" show. "At least no one was booing," she added.

During the show at the historic 3,600-seat Chicago Theatre, Sheen smoked cigarettes and answered questions about his marriages, his career and his life with the women he calls his "goddesses."

"They have not disallowed me everything that makes me happy. Period. The end," Sheen said of the former porn star and an actress who live with him.

Sheen also had some snappy comebacks for the emcee.

Asked how many times he had been married, Sheen retorted, "Seven-thousand. That's why I'm broke."

Asked why he's "paid for sex" in the past, Sheen responded, "Because I had millions to blow. I ran out of things to buy."

Sheen also seemed to have a better rapport with the Chicago crowd. As the show began, some in the crowd began chanting "Detroit sucks." When one audience member asked Sheen to take off his shirt, he swapped his T-shirt for a collared shirt thrown at him by a larger man in the audience. He proceeded to wear the too big shirt for the rest of the show and referred throughout the show to the man who had given it to him.

Early on, Sheen urged the audience in an obscenity-laced statement "not to become (expletive) Detroit tonight. Let's show Detroit how it's (expletive) done." Later when former "Two and a Half Men" star was asked by the interviewer when he had started "winning," Sheen responded, "The winning started in (expletive) Chicago."

Ellen Olson, who was wearing a black T-shirt with Sheen's catchphrase "Winning!" in white across the front, said she enjoyed the performance.

"I think he interacted with the audience a lot, which made it more funny," said Olson, 55, of Elmwood Park.

Before the show, audience members said they had low expectations based on what they heard and read about the inaugural performance.

"We figured we'd try it out and see what happens, and if it's bad, we'll leave," said Katie Iglehart, 23, of Chicago, who was attending the show with a friend.

Like the Chicago show, Sheen's Detroit performance began with thunderous applause. But it soon disintegrated before ending 70 minutes later. In between, Sheen tried to appease his audience with rants, a rapper and a question and answer session, ultimately concluding the first show was "an experiment." By the end of the show, only hundreds of people remained in the audience.

Sheen has made headlines in recent years as much for his drug use, failed marriages, custody disputes and run-ins with the police, as for his acting. Martin Sheen has compared his son's struggle with addiction to a cancer patient's struggle for survival.

In August, the wayward star pleaded guilty in Aspen, Colo., to misdemeanor third-degree assault after a Christmas Day altercation with his third wife, Brooke Mueller. The couple have since finalized their divorce.

Sheen's behavior, which included lashing out at "Two and a Half Men" producer Chuck Lorre, finally became too much for Warner Bros. Television, which fired him March 7.

Sheen fired back with a $100 million lawsuit and all-out media assault in which he informed the world about his standing as a "rock star from Mars" with "Adonis DNA."

Winslet Struggled With 'Tough' Break-up Scenes

Kate Winslet struggled to portray the breakdown of a relationship in new TV mini-series Mildred Pierce, because the scenes reminded her of splitting from husband Sam Mendes.

The Titanic star announced the end of her seven-year marriage to the American Beauty director last year.

She admits she found it hard to shoot emotional scenes in her upcoming U.S. TV drama, and often felt numb when she used her own heartbreak to help act out the part.

She tells Britain's Daily Express, "It was tough. There were moments like that one where I was using things from my own life in my performance. There were days when I'd almost feel comatose."

Lynda Carter Gives New Wonder Woman A Boost

The original TV Wonder Woman has given the new Diana Prince a big boost days after the first images of the new comic book superheroine appeared online - she can't wait to see the new series.

Adrianne Palicki will play the new Wonder Woman in an upcoming TV pilot created by writer/director David E. Kelley, and she has big boots to fill - Lynda Carter became an iconic figure when she first donned the famous outfit in the 1970s.

And now Carter has given the newcomer her blessing to take the character into the 21st century.

She tells Eonline.com, "I think she looks fabulous. It's a new look and, jeez, her body looks fantastic.

"I'm sure there will be people who say she looks better than me and like her better than me - and that's also fine. I want this story to be told again. I'm really excited. I can't wait to see it."

Carter reveals she has been in talks about a cameo on the new show.

She adds, "It's not out of the question. It would be great."

First Shot of Adrianne Palicki as Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman has arrived! And, well, she's a little more blue than expected. Warner Bros. has released the first picture of Adrianne Palicki as The Amazing Amazon -- aka Diana Prince -- from the upcoming NBC reboot of the '70s series from David E. Kelley. As you can see, unlike the Lynda Carter outfit, Palicki has on some nice, long pants, as well as blue boots instead of red.

The show, about scientists returning to prehistoric Earth, was due to air in the U.S. in May, but will now be shown from the autumn.

Sandman TV Series Reawakened

Earlier this week, fans of Neil Gaiman's Sandman comics gave a collective sigh of relief at Eric Kripke's statement that development on the projected TV series was not going forward. Now though, DC Comics' Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns has provided a GLaDOS-like tweet to indicate that the TV Sandman is Still Alive after all.

"Correction to world," says Johns. "The Sandman is awake! Psyched to be working with Neil on developing one of the greatest series ever!"

Which is rather different from Kripke's "Unfortunately, for a lot of varying reasons, Sandman is not in the works," although he did qualify that with "at least for this season."

The series is on the books at Warner Brothers, DC's sister company, and Kripke, the creator of Supernatural, had been the studio's top choice to bring Gaiman's saga to life. The author's one-line synopsis of the comic's 75 issues is "The lord of dreams learns that one must change or die, and makes his decision," but there's obviously a lot more to it than that, with the Vertigo series taking in pantheons and mythologies from across the globe, via threads about fantastical quests, serial killers and road trips, in following the progress of Morpheus (aka Dream of the Endless), who's only recently been released from a seventy-year imprisonment at the hands of a Crowley-like sorceror.

That doesn't really describe it either. There's nothing really very much like Sandman, which is why it's a peculiar and difficult prospect for any sort of adaptation (although if it works it could be something extraordinary).

Happily, as indicated by Johns, Gaiman himself is at least involved on some level. Kripke, a big fan of the author (he says Supernatural is Sandman crossed with Gaiman's novel American Gods) "just loved my conversations with him," while Johns says "Sandman in any form - comics to live action - doesn't work without Neil."

Is development continuing without Kripke? Are Warners looking for a new show-runner? Let us know your thoughts on who might have the right sensibility in the comments below. We'll bring you more news as it emerges...

TV Ratings: 'Blue Bloods' leads CBS Friday; 'Fringe' loses viewers

Fast National ratings for Friday, March 11, 2011. CBS' normal procedurals dominated primetime overall and even were able to eke out a demographic win on Friday night. Meanwhile, on the front most readers are likely to care about, "Fringe" held steady among young viewers, but dipped back below 4 million viewers overall to its second smallest audience since moving to Fridays. Among adults 18-49, CBS averaged a 1.8 rating for the night, topping Fox's 1.6 rating in the key demographic. ABC and NBC posted 1.4 ratings to tie for third, beating The CW's 0.5 rating.

Eddie Cibrian To Star In 'Playboy'

Eddie Cibrian, of LeAnn Rimes' engagement ring fame, has been cast in the NBC drama pilot, Playboy. The 20th Century Fox TV project is set at the Playboy Club in Chicago in 1963 and revolves around Cibrian's character of Nick Dalton, who's described as "the ultimate playboy" and is an attorney with mysterious ties to the mob. Dalton is also credited with "knowing how to make problems disappear," and although there is no forthright mention of it, is undoubtedly pretty interested in bedding the club's waitresses before they even have time to take their bunny ears off. Also set to star in the series is Amber Heard, Laura Benanti, Naturi Naughton, Jenna Dewan-Tatum and David Krumholtz. Jeff Hephner was originally slated for the lead role, but Cibrian solidified it for himself when he told casting directors he'd be honored to do exactly what Nick would do, which is take care of their biggest problem for them.

'Idol's' Casey Abrams Endures Blood Transfusions, Hopeful About The Competition

On last night's Idol results we found that one of our favorite contestants, the phenomenal Casey Abrams, was in the hospital yet again for the same reason he was admitted earlier in the competition.

Abrams suffers from ulcerative colitis, a condition which is probably only worsened by the intense stress of the competition. As of now, it looks likely that Abrams will return. He's been tweeting hopeful messages for his fans. After his successful blood transfusion, he said, "Hey guys, thanks for the well wishes, I got some nice fresh blood in me and feeling better. People at Idol & Cedars are treatin me real good," and later, "My health is always first, but this is my dream, I'm going to keep fighting to stay in."

There's been no official word on whether or not Casey will be back next Wednesday, but it seems like he's not ready to let the chance on Idol go so I think we can all rest easy for now.
